Loved the Talk. Hate the newfound Insecurity!

Is there a retroactive way to deal with the jos_ , userid and admin exploit openings
  • Brian Teeman · 2 months ago
userid and admin are easy to fix see the link in the video. changing the db prefix is a bit trickier
  • lafrance · 2 months ago
Hello did a video yesterday on it
    http://vimeo.com/groups/joomlacoders/videos/702...

I changed the db prefix on a site once, in a very easy way. I exported the database to a sql file, opened it in a text editor (Notepad++), made a "search and replace" for jos_ to somethingelse_. Saved and then imported the database in phpMyAdmin again. Then changed the configuration in Joomla of course.

Hi Brian, I really enjoyed your video, despite the audio gremlins.

I learn more and more about Joomla daily and am thrilled to learn from a fellow Brit.
  • Brian Teeman · 2 months ago
Thanks Tess. The audio is a bit better on the slideshare version of the presentation from The Netherlands but i think the overall presentation is better on the video from Germany.
  • Elektragoddess · 2 months ago
I was scribbling down the code fixes as you were speaking, but I guess I can get a 'hard copy' from slideshare?
  • Brian Teeman · 2 months ago
yes you can - runs off to check that download is enabled
  • Elektragoddess · 2 months ago
Did you get my email recently about some 1:1 Joomla training? Ref PKD charity etc. As I couldn't wait until you do your course in London in November or some time?
  • Brian Teeman · 2 months ago
Sorry - think it came in whilst I was in a state of panic getting ready for the holiday. Will reply tomorrow
  • Elektragoddess · 2 months ago
OK! No problem. Hope you had a grand time.

I watched your presentation and liked it very much, you're talking about .htaccess files but my hosting provider has Windows so I need to make a httpd.ini with ISAPI Rewrite.

Can you tell me where I can find the codes or manuals to make such files with the same effect as your .htaccess files ?
  • Brian Teeman · 2 months ago
Sorry I have never used IIS so I can't help you there.
  • pinkpanter · 2 months ago
    OK Thanx anyway :-)

Nice video! I rarely write comments, but I must do it now. I am impressed by this presentation. Thank you!
  • Brian Teeman · 2 months ago
Thanks Milos it's always good to get feedback, especially when it's complimentary.

Hi Brian... i was on last saturday in Rome, viewing the "Live Action Video" of your "performance".
Today i was telling to my collegues about it.
I think now i will diffuse the video to all people i know (joomla involved, obviously).

I have 1 question...is it possible to have a pdf file of your slide? i mean, also a "brandized" and not printable file...

Thank you in advance, and again: very nice job!!!
