Great idea, Brian!

Germany is perfect for such an event in my opinion - UK as #2. Both countries have well established communities and experience with JoomlaDays. The Frankfurt area is centrally located and easy to get to from anywhere in Europe. I guess the event would be more of a European than an International event, but nevertheless it will be a huge opportunity for everyone.

Doing the conference in English wouldn't be a problem, I think. It would also be a great opportunity to meet all those nice people from the forums, blogs and Twitter that I appreciate so much. The Joomla Community is growing, and even though the local JoomlaDays are very nice, I believe we can learn a lot by crossing borders.

I'm booking a flight as soon as the date is set! :)

The idea is wonderful and I would agree that such event would be a great success.
However, Frankfurt is a key place, being one of the largest airports for sure. But my opinion is that such an event should take place in a cheaper place (Germany is quite expensive for East Europeans), which is center of low cost airlines.
Therefore my votes would go for:
a) Prague
b) Budapest
c) Vienna

All of the three are very communicative as well, but flights to there are cheaper and prices there are cheaper

It is more a case of allowing sufficient time. I know from the experience of Debian that in some cases a period of 6 months is required

That's great to hear Oleg. Visas are definitely an issue and for any event to succeed we would need to ensure that the timescale allows for people like yourself to apply for visas.

Hey, this is definitely a great idea. If there will be a way to travel from Ukraine (I'll need a visa) then I think I can gather Joomla developers from Ukraine.

Bad Nauheim was nice but it's not the heart of Europe. Years ago I attended conferences in an hotel 5 km from the Frankfurt airport. You will be there by plane, by train and by car very soon from overall Europe. You will not have a beautiful park but there also is a pub to meet at late evening. If Robert has found such a place: Perfect ! I will be there !
