Stand up, Speak out! | Joomla GPS - brian.teeman.net
Thanks for sharing! Personally I am not a member of your target audience, but I do see what you are aiming for. I especially like the navigation and how you use K2.
Here's some general feedback:
1. Maybe you should consider to change the puppet in Yootheme's login module and use an illustration of a cook?
2. Was there any specific reason for you why you did not choose to use CommunityBuilder or JomSocial and start to build a community for parents?
3. Wouldn't it be great to tweet your new recipes automatically and notify your audience through twitter as well?
It's a great example of how Joomla can be used for your niche and it will inspire others to create and launch new concepts!
Thumbs up!
Michel
1. That's an awesome idea. I'll explore that one.
2. Yes, it takes a lot of time to manage a community (CB or JomSocial). For now, we decided against it although it is something that we know we will have to implement in the future.
3. Is this your way of trying to get me to sign up for Twitter? :) We do have plans to use Twitter and Facebook. If you can think of any other Social Networks/Platforms that you think would benefit users, please let us know. :)
2. I think to build community with that site make much more work. To control each recipe if it's real the own of the poster and that it will work for intolerant take alot of time i think. Not each site have to be a community ^^
3. Well if you think about to use Twitter I would like to point you the a plugin I made (please delete that part brian if you dont like that...its not my my normal way but we are not listed on extension.joomla atm cause they don't publish our extensions atm because of some name licence difficultis....) bit.ly/AAt5T
It feels really fresh and useful for us sensitive guys (not just our children:).
Great use of K2 and I really liked the advanced search.
My only reservation is the footer that looks strange when the modules on the right side falls short of the main content. It makes it feel unbalanced (or maybe I'm just being intolerant?).
Cheers!
