I really must agree with you. It's difficult for a hoster to keep their own servers secure and up to date.
But if you own a weblog/cms, _you_ are responsible for keeping it up-to-date.
I also have my own servers, and I offer services to my customers for updating their cms/blog.

Not that difficult, but the most people have _no_ knowledge of updating their cms/blog. Sad, but nothing but the truth.
